Some of the expressions that we examine are examples of ironie sarcasm, whereas others are ironie but not sarcastic. Sarcas- tic irony is used to express a negative attitude as well as to insult or hurt to some degree. Nonsarcastic irony can be used to express either negative or positive attitudes, but in neither case is intended to hurt or insult any particular person.
